Neal Asher Interviewed at Fantasybookspot.com
Posted by jaytomio on March 30, 2008
Here I have been talking about interviews I’m working and one pops up at the good old ‘bookspot by someone else. John Markely interviews author Neal Asher. I may not have talked about this before but I dig Asher’s work in the way I tend to dig anything Pan published (that I have read - which is considerable, including Campbell, VanderMeer, China, Justina Robson, Hal Duncan, Banks etc), here is a bit from the interview:
What you won’t find in my books is navel-gazing introspection, stunning (or rambling) prose for its own sake, didactic political bullshit, the ad nauseum over-development of a character’s history and that meandering slide into the arty-farty-literarty spectrum of the SF world.
This is a bit of a welcome surprise for me as I wasn’t expecting this interview - but good stuff!
Big thanks to John for conducting it.
